Less of a throw blanket, more if a water proof, or water resistant liner with a top layer that is red flannel and somewhat soft. I had planned to use it as part of his bed, but it is so stiff and not soft or acting as a throw blanket whatsoever that I am unable to use it for anything, except for the hatchback of the car when we go on long rides, unfortunately

This blanket is amazing thick, water resistant and durable. Great siting wet grass laying over a bent or adding to crate.
