Get a Pet Door, Get a Life
It is no surprise that people with pets love animals; still, there is a difference between loving your animal and being bound to them 24/7. If you want to regain some freedom, you need to take a look at a pet door. A pet door gives you and your animals the best of both worlds. You are no longer bound to let them in and out whenever they desire, and they are no longer dependent upon you for some needed freedom.
Not only dogs can use pet doors. Cats are very smart, and they too can learn to use a pet door. Placing the litter box in the garage or laundry room and using a pet door to access the space is perhaps the most common way to use a pet door with a cat. Let’s face it folks, no one wants to look at cat litter all the time, or for that matter, smell it. By putting the litter box out of the way, but still providing constant access, you solve two issues with one action.
Another good use for a cat door is to provide access to the outdoors for cats that spend the night outside. Not all cats are housecats. Some are just natural wanderers. If you use the same principal to allow your cat permission to roam during certain hours, you know that they can get back into the garage or laundry room when they want to return.
This way you don’t need to be concerned about your kitty if it starts to rain or gets really cold one night. You can still keep certain areas blocked off with another door to prevent wildlife from making it into your home, and let your cat into the main house in the morning.
A similar concept can be used with rabbits in an outdoor hutch. For rabbit owners who opt to keep their bunnies outside, there is always the concern that they will get chilly at night. The enclosed area of the hutch is often furnished with some warming system, and keeping the heat inside is easier with doggie doors. This gives your rabbit additional protection from the elements, but makes it really easy for them to get outside into the fresh air when they want to. The best of both worlds quickly provided by the use of a pet door.
The primary users of pet doors are, of course, dogs. They enjoy the ability to run in and out when they want. Having this access means fewer accidents, which often occur when a dog is waiting at a door for someone to let them out. Doors come in all sizes and can accommodate nearly every door type, from screen doors to glass. Nearly all the doors come with a locking feature from the inside, so you can restrict entry and protect your home when you go away.
Adding a pet door to your home just makes good sense, especially if you have an invisible dog fence. There are so many uses and such a number of benefits, it is well worth your time to install one and train your animal to use it. Both of you will appreciate the increased freedom of movement a pet door provides.
